Release date: 8/1/2003

New Execution Agent for Leading Job Scheduling and Management System Further Broadens Range of Possible Platforms

PARSIPPANY, NJ - (Aug. 1, 2003) – Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), a leading provider of system software solutions that enhance Windows, UNIX, Linux®, and OpenVMS systems, today announced the debut of a new Execution Agent for its ActiveBatch® job scheduling and management application supporting IBM® pSeries™ products running Linux. The new Execution Agent further broadens the cross-platform capabilities of ActiveBatch while ensuring interoperability with one of IBM’s most popular lines of e-business servers for enterprises of all sizes.

ActiveBatch, ASCI's flagship application, provides flexible and reliable scheduling and management of complex business tasks according to calendar, event, or on-demand execution rules. The solution lowers costs while maximizing computing resources for companies of all sizes. IBM’s pSeries handles critical e-business solutions and allows businesses the flexibility to configure servers to specific workload demands.

“pSeries Linux systems have gained a strong foothold in the marketplace,” said Jim Manias, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Advanced Systems Concepts. “We’re pleased to extend ActiveBatch to IBM’s fast-growing e-business platform, and to offer the broadest cross-platform job scheduling system available.”

Bringing Different Systems Together
As the cross-platform component of the ActiveBatch system, ActiveBatch Execution Agents are responsible for running single or repetitive jobs based on information delivered from the system’s Job Scheduler. Not only can jobs can be managed across platforms via ActiveBatch Execution Agents, but they can also be made dependent to, or trigger jobs from, other physical Execution systems, or systems deployed with other operating systems.

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server Version 8 is supported. Please visit the SuSE web site at http://www.suse.com for specific IBM pSeries model information. ActiveBatch Execution Agents are available for IBM-AIX Version 4.3 (or later); Microsoft Windows 2003, 2000, XP, and NT; OpenVMS Version 7.1 (or later); HP Tru64 UNIX Version 4 (or later); HP-UX Version 11 (or later); and Sun Solaris (Sparc) Version 6 (or later).
Version 4 of ActiveBatch was released in early 2003. For more information about Advanced Systems Concept’s ActiveBatch Job Scheduling and Management system, or to obtain a purchase quote, log on to http://www.advsyscon.com.
