Advanced Systems Concepts Announces Oracle Backend Support For ActiveBatch® Version 5

Release date: 2/7/2006

High-Performance Batch Processing Software Gives Oracle Users Ability To Quickly Implement and Manage ActiveBatch Without Additional Resources or Training

PARSIPPANY, NJ – (February 7, 2006) – Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), a leading provider of system software solutions that enhance Windows™, UNIX, Linux and OpenVMS systems, today announced the immediate availability of an Oracle database option for the backend information repository of ActiveBatch® Version 5, the company’s leading job scheduling and management system.  The option lets enterprises take advantage of the power and strong feature set of Oracle, support their organization’s current database strategy, and simplify their ActiveBatch training and ongoing management.
ActiveBatch is a comprehensive, scalable, one-stop solution for unattended data processing job execution across a variety of platforms including Windows 2003/XP/2000/NT, Linux (Red Hat & SUSE), IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, HP Tru64 UNIX, and OpenVMS.  Recently released ActiveBatch Version 5 delivers more job scheduling performance than ever, enabling enterprises to achieve the real time, or near-real time, information processing standards necessary in today’s fast-moving business environment.

With ActiveBatch’s new Oracle option, all system objects—jobs, histories, calendars, alerts and scores of others—are stored in the operational repository in an Oracle relational database format.  The repository, also new in Version 5, simplifies operator and/or user interaction with the system and increases both performance and scalability.

“Very few, if any, job management applications offer an Oracle option because of the extra development cost involved.  ASCI has taken this step because we realize Oracle users need an easy-to-implement application that minimizes incremental training and operational expense,” said Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI).  “With ROI more important than ever to IT staffs, the combination of ActiveBatch and Oracle allows Oracle users to leverage their expertise and investment in this important product.”

Among its other advantages, ActiveBatch Version 5 also improves integration, training, and manageability curves for IT staffs by taking full advantage of the Microsoft Windows systems environment already implemented into today’s business applications.  The application provides broad support for Kerberos and other Windows Security components; Active Directory; Windows Management Instrumentation; Microsoft clusters; OLE/DB compliant databases and much more, thus reducing costs by simplifying deployment and use in Microsoft Windows shops. ActiveBatch Version 5 supports Oracle 10g and 9i database formats and is now available for new and existing ActiveBatch customers.  Current users can acquire Oracle database support by visiting our Product Download Center at www.ActiveBatch.com.
