With increasing service demands and uptime requirements for today's networks and applications System Administrators and Operations personnel require new capabilities to manage systems. As situations occur, any time of the day or night, administrators and/or developers are required to respond quickly. By integrating ActiveBatch's powerful job scheduling and management capabilities with a BlackBerry® Wireless Handheld, critical situations become directly actionable by Operations Staff Members or System Administrators regardless of whether they are at home, on the road or simply away from their desk. No longer is it necessary to be "paged" to solve a problem, at arm's length.

With ActiveBatch Wireless, remote management is simplified and responsibility for direct action is placed in the appropriate hands of identified individuals.

ActiveBatch Wireless's new Command Console feature allows Job and Queue operations to be issued from your wireless device with ease. Simply scroll the thumbwheel to make your selection, enter some information about your operation, and click to send your command right through to your Job Scheduler system. All communication is encrypted and secure for worry free operations and a "return-receipt" is sent back to your Blackberry® unit notifying you of the status of your command.

ActiveBatch's use of powerful Alerts permits the sending of E-mail messages to designated personnel describing the precise nature of a developing situation. An ActiveBatch resident application, on the BlackBerry® handheld, receives and presents the alert message in an easy to understand format so appropriate action can be taken via direct reply. For example, a System Administrator might elect to resubmit a failed job or using ActiveBatch's on-demand jobs capabilities trigger the restart of a system service or perform other necessary operations to manage situations, as identified in the alert. A "return-receipt" provides end-to-end acknowledgement that the operation has been received and processed by ActiveBatch. ActiveBatch Wireless is capable of initiating action messages as well as responding to alerts.

Using the ActiveBatch Wireless ISSUE command, a remote user can initiate and send ActiveBatch commands to manage and monitor their environment anywhere and at anytime. The BlackBerry® solution enables the authentication, integrity and confidentiality of information, ensuring that all ActiveBatch Wireless Client data is securely transmitted. In addition, ActiveBatch Wireless ensures that all confidential information within a message is protected. The ActiveBatch Wireless Server runs as a Service so that accessibility for remote management is always there.

To implement ActiveBatch Wireless on your ActiveBatch Job Scheduling system, the installation of a supported ActiveBatch Product Editions and the purchase of the ActiveBatch Wireless Server software add-in is required.
