Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI) was founded in 1981 in Hoboken, New Jersey, as a software engineering and consulting company specializing in the development of Strategic System Software Management Solutions. ASCI has developed numerous solutions over the years such as XLNT, RemoteSHADOW, ActiveBatch, and more.
With an initial focus on the development of "Mission Critical Applications", ASCI introduced INTACT® for high performance transaction processing, which was subsequently licensed to HP (then Digital Equipment Corporation). INTACT® was renamed DECIntact, ultimately becoming the heart of their transaction processing strategy in the commercial sector.
RemoteSHADOW®, introduced in 1991, reduces the time to recovery in the event of a site or system loss and has become the solution of choice for OpenVMS Disaster Recovery. RemoteSHADOW gained new visibility when organizations like Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, were back up and running at their remote site in less than an hour after the September 11th attacks.
ActiveBatch, ASCI’s flagship Enterprise Scheduling and Workload Automation solution, was first developed more than 15 years ago as a script scheduling tool called BQMS® (Batch Queue Management System) for ASCI’s XLNT product. Based on customer feedback and continued research and development, ASCI developed BQMS into a standalone, cross-platform enterprise job scheduler designed for distributed computing environments, at which time ASCI renamed the solution ActiveBatch. Today, ActiveBatch is on its tenth major version release and offers a mobile and web version.
